Remove.bg Review: The One-Click Background Remover
Image GenerationFreemiumRemoves image backgrounds in one click with AI — the fastest way to cut out people and products, free at preview resolution.
What Is Remove.bg and How Does It Work?
It's an AI tool that detects the foreground subject of an image and removes its background automatically. Upload a photo and you get a clean cutout in about five seconds, with the original background replaced by transparency, white, or a color you choose.
The engine is trained to handle tricky edges like hair, fur, and fine product detail exceptionally well. A generous free tier processes images at preview resolution, and paid credits unlock full-resolution files up to 50 megapixels.
Features: Cutouts, Batch & API
Beyond the one-click web tool, the service offers power features for professionals.
- Automatic subject detection with excellent hair handling
- Full-resolution output up to 50 megapixels
- Batch processing for many images at once
- Developer API with 50 free calls per month
- Photoshop plugin and platform integrations
The API for Developers
Its API is the most trusted background-removal API in the industry. One HTTP call removes a background, making it simple to wire into e-commerce platforms, marketplaces, and image pipelines.
It supports uploads and image URLs, PNG/JPG/WebP/ZIP output, and resolution up to 50MP. Credit-based billing keeps costs predictable, and the 50 free calls a month make it easy to test.
