Wix, Hostinger and Durable AI website builders compared side by side

Wix, Hostinger and Durable appear on almost every list of AI website builders, but they no longer compete for the same buyer. Wix is a full website platform with an AI builder on top. Hostinger is a hosting company whose plans now include an AI builder in two modes. Durable is a deliberately simple builder that adds a light CRM and invoicing.

One correction matters before any comparison: Wix ADI no longer exists. Wix retired ADI on 10 November 2024 and replaced it with the Wix AI Website Builder, now delivered through Wix Harmony with an AI agent called Aria. Guides that still recommend "Wix ADI" are describing a discontinued product, and any URL that says "ADI" is out of date. Throughout this article, "Wix" means the current Wix AI Website Builder.

Everything below comes from each vendor's own documentation and published pricing, checked on 16 October 2026. I did not run a hands-on build test for this article, so there are no scores and no "we tested" claims — only capabilities, prices and limitations that trace back to a source. Where a capability is not publicly documented, this article says so.

The three builders as they stand today

Wix Harmony turns a text prompt into a multi-page draft, then hands it to a hybrid editor. You can keep prompting Aria — to change colours, add a services page, or rewrite copy — or switch to drag-and-drop editing. Because it sits on the full Wix platform, the same account also opens Wix Stores, Wix Bookings and the app market.

Hostinger starts from hosting and adds the builder. It offers two modes: a manual drag-and-drop editor, and an "agentic" mode that generates a project you can iterate on with an assistant. The subscription bundles hosting, SSL and, on annual plans, a domain and mailboxes, which is why its advertised entry price looks lower than the others.

Durable optimises for speed over depth. A short description produces a clean, mostly single-page business site, and the surrounding dashboard handles lightweight CRM, invoicing and booking. Durable's own FAQ confirms it is not built as an e-commerce platform.

Prices are in USD as shown on the vendors' global pages and are yearly-billing rates unless noted. Currency, tax and availability vary by region, so confirm the figure in your own account before buying.

Read the renewal column before the headline price

The advertised price is rarely the price you keep paying, and the three vendors handle this differently.

Wix lists yearly-billing rates: Light at $17/mo, Core at $29/mo, Business at $39/mo and Business Elite at $159/mo. Monthly billing is available but costs more, with the exact figure shown at checkout. Wix's plan page does not publish a separate renewal rate above these yearly prices, though regional pricing and periodic promotions change what you see. Paid plans include a 14-day money-back guarantee, and most yearly plans add a free domain for the first year.

Hostinger is the clearest example of an introductory-versus-renewal gap. Its Website Builder starts at $2.99/mo for Premium, $3.99/mo for the e-commerce plan and $7.99/mo for Cloud Startup on a 48-month term — but the same page states these renew at $10.99, $16.99 and $25.99/mo respectively. Hostinger advertises a 14-day free trial of the builder, no permanent free plan, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Durable does not separate an introductory price from a renewal price. Launch is $25/mo billed monthly or $22/mo billed yearly, and Grow is $49/mo or $41/mo, with annual billing saving about 15%. A free plan exists, but it publishes to a Durable subdomain rather than your own domain.

Plan As listed What changes later
Wix Light $17/mo, billed yearly Monthly billing costs more; region and promotions vary
Wix Core $29/mo, billed yearly Same caveats as Light
Wix Business $39/mo, billed yearly Same caveats as Light
Hostinger Premium from $2.99/mo (48-month intro) Renews at $10.99/mo
Hostinger Business/Unlimited from $3.99/mo (48-month intro) Renews at $16.99/mo
Hostinger Cloud Startup from $7.99/mo (48-month intro) Renews at $25.99/mo
Durable Launch $25/mo monthly or $22/mo yearly No separate renewal price
Durable Grow $49/mo monthly or $41/mo yearly No separate renewal price

Where the real differences are

Feature lists blur together, so these are the points that actually change a decision.

Getting your site back out

This is the sharpest split. Wix is a closed SaaS platform: its help centre states that a Wix site must run on Wix's servers, so there is no official way to export the site and self-host it. You can export a Wix Stores product list and connect or transfer your domain, but the site itself stays on Wix. Hostinger is more open in agentic mode, where a project can be exported as a .zip of a Node project built with React and Vite; its manual mode instead exports content to a WordPress site. Durable states you can keep your custom domain if you leave — arranged as a transfer that can take a couple of weeks — but it does not offer site or code export. If leaving a platform cleanly matters, weigh these before you start.

E-commerce, fees and bookings

Wix handles online selling from the Core plan upward, and its Light plan cannot take payments. Hostinger requires its Business/Unlimited plan for e-commerce and advertises 0% transaction fees, with a single store capped at 1,000 products. Durable's official FAQ says it is not designed for e-commerce, so treat it as services-and-bookings rather than a store. On bookings, Wix Bookings sits on Core and above, Hostinger's appointments require the Business plan, and Durable includes unlimited booking from Launch upward. Third-party payment-processor fees still apply wherever you sell.

Multilingual sites

Wix Multilingual is a free app that translates a site into 180+ languages with per-language SEO settings. Hostinger's manual mode supports up to four languages, including the default. Durable translates the whole site, plus its SEO metadata, only on the Grow plan.

Support

Wix includes 24/7 customer care on its premium plans. Hostinger advertises 24/7 support. Durable offers a basic help centre on Free and priority human support from Launch upward. The existence of a help centre says nothing about response times, and none of the three publishes measurable support-quality data, so treat this as a channel list rather than a quality ranking.

What the first session looks like

If you have never built a site before, the practical difference is how much there is to review once the AI stops.

Durable asks for a short description and returns a mostly single-page draft with copy and images, plus logo options and a preview link you can share straight away. Publishing to your own domain needs a paid plan. It is the shortest path from a prompt to a presentable page, and the shallowest to customise afterwards.

Wix turns the same description into a multi-page draft, then expects you to shape it — by prompting Aria or switching to drag-and-drop. There is more to review before the result matches your intent, in exchange for far more control over the finished site.

Hostinger splits the decision up front: a manual drag-and-drop builder, or an agentic mode you iterate on with an assistant. Because hosting, a domain and mailboxes are bundled, publishing is a single step once you are on a paid plan.

This describes each vendor's documented workflow, not a timed test. Generation speed varies with the prompt and the plan, and none of the three publishes benchmark timings, so treat any "site in X seconds" figure — including in older guides — with caution.

Choosing without a score

There is no honest single winner here, because the right pick depends on what you will need later.

  • You want to keep editing freely and grow into a full platform. Wix rewards the higher price with the deepest editor and the widest app set, and its free plan lets you start before paying. Accept that the finished site stays on Wix.
  • You care most about total cost and already want hosting. Hostinger bundles hosting, SSL, a domain and mailboxes into one bill, and it is the only one of the three with a documented code-export path. Read the renewal prices first — they are roughly three to four times the introductory rate.
  • You want a fast, simple site with CRM and invoicing attached. Durable gets a service business online quickly, with booking included from the Launch plan. Skip it if you need a store, deep design control, or a way to move the site later.

If none of the three fits, 10Web is a more WordPress-shaped option, and B12 targets professional services with a done-for-you feel. To widen the field, the tools directory and the side-by-side compare tool both help.

Bottom line

The useful question is not which AI website builder is best, but what you will need six months from now. Wix gives you room to redesign and expand, at the cost of staying on Wix. Hostinger gives you the lowest entry price and a real export path, at the cost of a steep renewal. Durable gives you the quickest route to a working service-business site, at the cost of depth. Whichever you choose, build one real page before you commit a year to it.
